BOB McCORMICK, anchor: Well, now, let's say you're gonna stay here -- we're
stuck -- but there are things to do, and -- and you don't want to shave, you
don't want to put on the makeup -- you can head over to the fair at Pasadena.
(sic) And Laurie Pike is here from LA.com with that and some of the other
things you might want to do on this holiday weekend.
Laurie, tell us about Pasadena first off.
Ms. LAURIE PIKE (Editor-in-Chief, LA.com): You know, there's a lotta summerfests going on, and you never know if they're any good or not. And this one is really a quality festival. It really does have something for everyone in that there's amusement park rides, there's very good live music, but they also have like this sports zone with extreme sports on display, dancers, arts and crafts. There's -- there's a little bit of everything; it's a very big fair. And because it's been going so long, it's become a family tradition for a lot of people.
McCORMICK: Now, this is Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Brookside Park.
Ms. PIKE: Yeah.
McCORMICK: Good luck finding a place to park, 'cause sometimes even on normal days it's not a lotta fun. (sic)
Now, this one I think is really unusual, because I cannot believe this one not being mobbed (sic), and that's the Loews Santa Monica Hotel pool party on Memorial Day.
Ms. PIKE: It is going to be quite a party, especially because -- I don't know if you've been there -- their pool is right on the ocean. It's gorgeous. And, of course, Memorial Day weekend is when everybody busts-out their new swimsuits and shows-off their fabulous gym-toned-
McCORMICK: Yeah, this is a day when you're gonna have to shave and put on the makeup (sic), unfortunately.
Ms. PIKE: You're definitely gonna want to shave, but not --you're not gonna put -- put on too much makeup (sic), because you're gonna be swimming in the pool and you're gonna be in the sun, you're gonna be eating barbecue. You know how that gets all over your face.
McCORMICK: I know a lot of Hollywood women who swim with the makeup on. The head never goes in the water, believe me.
Ms. PIKE: Yeah, and I think there's gonna be some of them there, because this is an event that's gonna attract probably a lot of twenty -- you know, people in their twenties and in their thirties -- so it's gonna be very kinda flirty, very networky, a lotta fun. (sic) LA.com is actually a -- one of the sponsors of that party.
McCORMICK: And that runs from two until 9:00 PM.
Ms. PIKE: Yeah.
McCORMICK: Boy, that's gonna be a long party. And then this is the final week for the photography show at LACMA.
Ms. PIKE: It's called "Revelations." It's a huge show, very important show by Diane Arbus, who's an American, you know, documentary art photographer. And this show's gonna travel all over the world, and it's a lot of very gritty, kind of out-there portraiture of, you know, freaks and unusual people from all over America, and it's a really interesting show.
McCORMICK: We'll check it out. (laughing) Laurie, thank you for being with us. And I guess at LA.com, you've got all the details right there, right?
Ms. PIKE: Yes, plus other options if those three don't tickle your fancy.
McCORMICK: Is there anything freakier, by the way? No, I'm just kidding.
Ms. PIKE: (laughs)
McCORMICK: (unintelligible) freaky. Laurie Pike, LA.com, all the activities you need to know about this weekend.
