March 30, 2004-SPEAKING OF things L.A., there was a recent event that very much mixed the old and new of Hollywood culture. A young woman named Lynda Keeler runs LA.com which is said to be the most fabulous online site about all things Los Angeles. The party to launch the site was held at Perino's, at 4101 Wilshire Blvd. This was one of the lush, glamorous star-spotting eateries during Hollywood's golden age. (Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford had a great scene in "Mommie Dearest" barking "Perino's is my place!").

Well, that Internet party was the last gasp for Perino's. The very next day, bulldozers flattened the restaurant. I guess LA.com can cross Perino's off its list of places to go in Hollywood.
